Seven deities, heralds of a manifesto of creativity and craftsmanship.
Welcome to the pantheon of the first Hautes Sculptures à Porter Xavier Brisoux has developed. This is the coming together of the work, inspirations, and influences of a lifetime.

Then each heroine has her own singularity with her Haute Sculpture à Porter, with a definition of her specificity through the choice of colour, shapes and volumes. The yarns used in the collection are mainly made of cotton, a fibre that is both soft to wear but strong enough to support its own weight.
Many of the silhouettes are incarnated in their own single colours defining their identity, ranging from neutral colours to autumnal hues to metallic lurex blue.
Craftmanship is at the centre of the collection.
In the knitwear first, as each silhouette is a challenge in its realisation. The technical boundaries are pushed as many of the Hautes Sculptures à Porter are knitted in one single panel. Considering the volume with and without the body, the piece can transcend to become a sculpture, an abstract object, a relic that an archaeologist would find while time-traveling to the future.
Then Brisoux has also translated his knitwear into a “flou” technique with the help of the Atelier Paloma.
By transposing the pleating effect to a tube of fabric in which a horsehair tubular is inserted, the aesthetics of the Hautes Sculptures à Porter become more evanescent in the silhouette “Métiers d'Art”. The very technical organza from Jakob Schlaepfer looks like liquid and together with the undefinable sea green colour, they finish giving the unfathomable aspect of the dress.
To complete the looks shoes, gloves and handbags were specifically made for the collection. Henry Aschkoyan has developed the shoes, and Maison Fabre has fabricated the gloves.

L'instinct de collection.

Laisser le temps à l'inspiration de murir tout en travaillant avec plus de spontanéité. Pour cette collection, la première d'un cycle nouveau -hors temps, hors saisonnalité - Xavier Brisoux pense l'architecture du vêtement, ses lignes de force. Le jersey est pris à rebours, des bourrelets de maille tracent la structure d'une silhouette redessinée. Le vestiaire se diversifie avec une palette de vêtements plus large : aux classiques pulls s'ajoutent crops, tuniques longues, jupes et guêtres pour un look moderne.

Des noms poétiques rendent compte de la douceur de la palette de couleurs : l'alstroemeria rouillé rencontre un lait de cuivre, la grenade tanique se mêle au givre de châtaigne, et la craie de rose réveille la pierre troglodyte. La villa art déco, la villa Cavrois – figure du patrimoine textile du nord de la France- choisie pour la séance photo fait écho à la recherche formelle de la collection.

The instinct of a collection.

Allow time for inspiration to grow while designing more spontaneously. For this collection, the first of a new cycle - out of temporality, out of seasonality - Xavier Brisoux is working on the architecture of the garment, stressing its sharp lines. Knits go crossways, and seemingly rib-pleated jersey underline the structure of a modern silhouette.

The wardrobe is broadened : in addition to the classic sweaters, crop tops, long tunics, skirts and gaiters complete the look. Poetic names reflect the softness of the color palette : the rusty lily of the incas meets a milky copper, the tannic pomegranate mixes with a frosted chestnut, and the pinked chalk awakens a troglodytic beige. The art deco villa, the villa Cavrois - emblem of the northern French textile heritage - chosen for the photoshoot is a perfect match to the formal research of the collection.

Renverser l'abîme

Atteindre l'ascendant, s'abandonner, déguerpir dans un dédale de mailles.
Xavier Brisoux réinvente la légende d'Icare en puisant dans ce mythe l'inspiration nécessaire à sa collection. À rebours toujours, il nous offre ici une version singulière du fléchage. Cette technique qui consiste à ne tricoter que certaines parties sur le metier , il l'explore fidèlement et l'utilise cette saison de manière plus brute, sous des formes aussi marquées que sa différence.

Embranchements, impasses, fausses pistes : entre la gouverne et la distance, Xavier Brisoux nous mène en balade, croise mailles et directions, livre angles et stries. Intégrant pour la première fois la rayure dans une de ses collections, il rend non seulement hommage aux grands classiques de la maille mais évoque également les figures antiques d'Icare et de Dédale, aux prises du célèbre labyrinthe.
Ces éléments mythiques se traduisent par un fléchage audacieux et soucieux des méandres de cet enchevêtrement esthétique. Les pièces de maille s'absentent et changent de direction en parfait angle droit, épousant parfaitement les omoplates. La matière se fait ludique par un jeu d'échelles soulignant une création visuelle unique.
A travers un patronage incessamment repensé, Xavier Brisoux mêle classicisme de la forme et recherche de constructions aux proportions subtiles. Autant de silhouettes créées et d'étonnantes longueurs qui s'expriment, par exemple, à l'ombre d'une manche à peine manche, posée sur une épaule.
Le jeu sans fin de matières, de textures et de couleurs se trouve renforcé par l'usage d'un fil mélangeant soie, coton et une pointe de cachemire. Xavier Brisoux continue sa percée dans l'univers de la couleur en habillant ses créations de beige, de taupe et de mauve, ces teintes adoucies qui soulignent son travail de la maille.

Reverse abyss

Reach the ascendant, let go, fade in a maze of stitches.
Xavier Brisoux reinvents the legend of Icarus by drawing inspiration from this myth for his collection. Against the grain, as usual, for a singular version of partial knitting. This technique is used in a rougher way here, in forms as varied and marked as his difference.

Junctions, dead ends, red herrings : between steering and distance, Xavier Brisoux carries out us around, mixes stitches and directions, reveals angles and streaks. Using stripes for the first time in his collection, not only pays he tribute to fashion classics but also evokes the ancient figures of Icarus and Daedalus inseparable from their well-known labyrinth.

These mythical elements find their expression in an audacious and attentive partial knitting in an aesthetic tangle. Stitches make tracks in a perfect right angle, perfectly fitting the shoulder blades. Knitting is turned into a game through a set of scales underlining a unique visual creation.

Through a constantly reconsidered patterning, Xavier Brisoux combines classicism of form and search for constructions and subtle proportions. So many silhouettes created and astonishing lengths, expressed in the shade of a sleeve lying on a shoulder for example.

The endless game of fabric, textures and colors is reinforced by the use of a yarn mixing silk, cotton and a hint of cashmere. Xavier Brisoux continues his breakthrough into the color universe by covering his creations with beige, taupe grey and mauve ; softened colors for a skillful work.

Les toiles

Les histoires sont des toiles, étroitement liées, fil à fil et on suit chaque histoire jusqu'au centre, car le centre c'est la fin. Neil Gaiman – Anansi Boys

Xavier Brisoux qui envisage chaque collection comme une histoire qu'il raconte, a basé la collection sur cette citation. Les modèles sont construits grâce à la technique du fléchage déjà abordée précédemment, et ici poussée jusqu'à éclater les laizes de maille comme autant de facettes d'une toile d'araignée. Les patronages s'enroulent autour du corps pour traduire l'idée du centre autour duquel gravitent de nouvelles formes. Différents points de maille sont utilisés pour rendre cette métaphore de la toile.

La silhouette est longue et fine, jouant de proportions subtiles. Le fil « sofcotton » trouvé chez les meilleurs filateurs italiens, d'une grande douceur et finesse, est utilisé pour toute la collection, et en renforce ses modèles et son luxe.

Le noir et le blanc se sont imposés pour exprimer cette notion de la « fin » évoquée dans la citation de Gaiman. Les gris, chers au créateur, viennent compléter la palette comme autant de couches de lecture de l'histoire de la saison, entre commencement et fin, entre ombre et jour.

Xavier Brisoux who sees each collection as a means to tell a story has based his collection on this quote. He has built his pieces with the technique of partial knitting he has touched upon last season and pushed it so as to open the knits as the many parts of a spider web. The constructions rotate around the body matching the idea of the focus revolving around a centre creating new shapes. Different stitches are explored to render the image of the web.

The silhouette is long and thin, playing on subtleties of proportions. The yarn used called “sofcotton” is one of the finest and softest yarns found in one of the best Italian yarn spinner, enhancing the designs and their luxury.

Black and white were the obvious choice for colours to convey the extreme character of the “end” in Gaiman's quote. Greys, important tones for the designer complete the colour palette as many layers of a story, between a beginning and an end, between dark and light.

Déclinaison d'une même forme.

Pour cette collection, Xavier Brisoux a travaillé l'idée de l'anagramme, et de la déclinaison d'une même forme exploitée de différentes manières à travers les pièces de sa collection de maille. À nouveau le concept de multiplicité au sein d'une unité est à l'origine de sa création. À cela s'ajoute un nouvel aspect plus graphique avec des rayures irrégulières créées par deux couleurs qui se mélangent sans maitrise et qui créent ainsi des pièces uniques. La technique de maille appelée « fléchage » est à l'origine de ce rendu visuel ; grâce à elle la collection a pu être construite avec très peu d'éléments qui se conjuguent de façons différentes comme un programme informatique qui n'utilise que le 0 et le 1 pour créer des variantes infinies.

Avec peu de « mots » à son actif, Xavier Brisoux raconte son concept avec de nouvelles couleurs : le bleu roi, le myrtille et le rose auxquels ils associent les gris toujours chers à son univers. Les combinaisons de ces couleurs se fait au travers de laines vierges ou de la douceur de subtils cachemires. En plus de ses lignes homme et femme, la collection présente pour la première fois des bijoux alliant maille et chaines.

Variation on the same shape

For this collection Xavier Brisoux has worked around the concept of an anagram and the use of a single shape interpreted in many different ways throughout the collection. This playful process on shape is completed by a graphic feature of uneven striping. These “messed” lines are mismatching thanks to a technical knitting process called “partial knitting”. It's a reminder of lines of computer programming made only with 0 and 1. Xavier Brisoux has in fact worked very much like a programmer who has only a few “words” to tell his story, but therefore has an endless world to create thanks to the different combination of these few elements. Some other pieces play with parts of normal sweaters displaced to rebuild a new piece.

For this collection the designer has introduced new tones of blues, blueberry, and pinks along with his usual greys. Variations on colours are expressed through a very soft virgin wool and cashmere. Accessories have been developed extending to a line of jewellery.
